Here at Hotel Engine, we believe a company is only as extraordinary as its people. We’ve dedicated ourselves to improving the lives of business travelers but want to show off the people who help make that happen. Every month, we’ll be doing a Q&A with one of our amazing team members to showcase the folks behind the scenes of Hotel Engine.

Logan joined us in 2019 as a Strategic Sourcing Coordinator. His hospitality background and infectious laughter are what makes him an incredible addition to our team. So, let’s get to know Logan!

Where are you from?

I grew up in Texas and Tennessee for my childhood (if you talk to me enough you’ll end up hearing a “Y’all” at some point in the conversation), then moved to Denver after graduating college.

Do you have a nickname at work?

Lorgan (Rhymes with Morgan)

What’s your favorite part about your team?

Everyone is very fun to be around – we joke a lot and have a good time, but we also collaborate very well together when problem-solving. No matter the person’s position within our team, everyone seems to offer valued opinions. Most of the team members come from a hotel background, so we are all able to see and understand the issues from the hotel side as well as Hotel Engine’s side.

What’s your spirit animal and why?

A falcon – I don’t really have a specific reason. I have always loved them since I was about 8 years old and was able to see several Birds of Prey shows/demonstrations at the YMCA we stayed at during the summers (YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, CO) when I was a kid.

What do you love about working for Hotel Engine?

I love the environment. Every day we discover a new and more efficient way of doing things. There is a very collaborative mentality among the whole company as everyone’s goal is to make Hotel Engine the best company it can be!

What do you think is unique about working at Hotel Engine?

The company is very close to each other. The Leadership team seems to care about the opinions and progressive ideas of all their employees, not just those working directly below them.

What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?

I like doing things outdoors, but nothing intense. Short hikes or long walks are great. I also love to play frisbee golf even though I am no good at it. I love to play basement/bar games like pool, darts, ping pong, etc. It’s boring, but of course, I also enjoy binge-watching Netflix and Hulu.

Let’s hear it for your humble brag!

I created an Excel calculator that saves lots of time for me and the other Strategic Sourcing Coordinators. Prior to the calculator, the department was utilizing online different calculators for each individual piece of information that was being calculated. The calculator is great for confirming we have not made any mistakes in our calculation and quoting process to the member.

What’s your favorite HE value?

Although all of the values are great, my favorite HE Value is likely “Failure is Success if We Learn From It”.

I feel this is the most vital phrase to live by in a young company. Everything is dynamic, and mistakes are some of the most efficient ways of discovering the best process for a company.

What’s your favorite thing about living in Colorado?

The weather. By a factor of about a million. My mind was blown moving from Tennessee and realizing that a “cold” day here is much milder than you might expect. A “cold” day in Knoxville meant blistering winds that cut through clothing and makes your eyes water because of the humidity.
